About Tukolerewamu
Grassroots hope. Radical transparency. A family for every child.
Who We Are
Tukolerewamu Children's Foundation is a registered grassroots NGO based in Wakiso, Uganda. Since 2023, we have been dedicated to rescuing vulnerable children from extreme poverty, abandonment, and neglect — providing them with a loving home, quality education, healthcare, and a path to a self-sufficient future.
The name Tukolerewamu means "Let us work together" in Luganda. It reflects our belief that lasting change happens when communities, donors, and local leaders unite as one family.
Our Journey
From a single act of kindness to a movement of hope.
The seed — Founder Kalungi Shadrack begins feeding a handful of orphaned children from his own pocket.
Official launch — Registered with Uganda NGO Board, starts with 12 children.
Growth — Expand to 45 children, build first safe house, partner with 3 schools.
Global reach — Sister-school program, 100% enrollment, healthcare added.
The future — 120 children, vocational center, digital lab, agri-project.
Kalungi Shadrack
Founder & Executive DirectorA lifelong resident of Wakiso district, Shadrack witnessed firsthand how poverty steals childhoods. With no outside funding, he started by feeding two children from his own small salary. Today, he balances a personal job to cover foundation overhead, ensuring that 94% of donations go directly to child programs.
"I will never ask for money that I wouldn't account for with a smile. Every donor is welcome to a live video call — see our children, see our ledgers, see our hearts."
Our Approach
We don't believe in quick fixes or overhead-heavy models. Our approach is holistic, community-led, and radically transparent.
